Sultain / September 2023
Oidhche shònraichte a’ comharrachadh co-là-breith an Dr. Aonghas Dòmhnallach, aonan de bhràithrean Dòmhnallach Ghleann Ùige.
Tha Aonghas air iomadh duais a choisinn mar shàr-phìobaire, nam measg an t-Sionnsar Airgid, Buinn Òr anns an Òban, Inbhir Nis agus ann an Canada agus Claspa Inbhir Nis aig Cruinneachadh a’ Chinn a Tuath. Tha e fhèin agus a bhràithrean air na stoidhlean sònraichte aca fhèin a leasachadh thar nam bliadhnaichean, a’ tarraing air na h-ùidhean eadar-dhealaichte a th’ aca fhèin.
Bha Aonghas deatamach ann a bhith a’ stèidheachadh a’ chiad Fhèis riamh, Fèis Bharraigh, ann an 1981 mus do ghluais e a Cheap Breatainn fad 11 bhliadhna. Bhon a thill e, tha e air a dhachaigh a dhèanamh anns an Eilean Sgitheanach le a bhean agus an dithis chloinne, far an robh e na dhotair sa choimhearsnachd fad iomadh bliadhna.
A special evening to celebrate Dr Angus MacDonald, one of the renowned MacDonald piping brothers from Glenuig, turning 70.
Dr Angus has competed and won many accolades for his piping: the Silver Chanter, gold medals in Oban, Inverness and in Canada, and the Inverness Clasp at the Northern Meeting amongst them. He and his brothers have developed their own unique style of piping over the years, drawing on their individual interests.
Dr Angus was instrumental in helping to establish the first ever Fèis in 1981, Fèis Bharraigh, before moving to Cape Breton where he spent 11 years. Since his return, he has made his home in the Isle of Skye with his wife and two children, where he was a GP in the community for many years.
