Music and song of Scotland and Ireland from Julie Fowlis, Éamon Doorley, Zoë Conway & John Mc Intyre.
Julie Fowlis, an acclaimed artist known for her work in Gaelic music, brings her evocative voice and rich Hebridean heritage to the group. Zoë Conway from Co. Louth is celebrated for her virtuosic playing cross-genre, and has toured worldwide with the likes of Riverdance. John Mc Intyre has roots in Co Donegal and is a hugely versatile guitarist, complementing the ensemble with his sensitive playing and unique singing style. Éamon Doorley, a skilled bouzouki player and a founding member of the traditional Irish band Danú, enriches the group’s sound with his rhythmic expertise and innovative arrangements.
Together, this quartet creates a vibrant and contemporary chamber group sound that is deeply rooted in their collective cultures and all composed new music and songs in the Gaelic language for this project. Their performances, with tight vocal harmonies alongside thoughtful and spacious arrangements, are a testament to the power of cultural collaboration and showcase the deep historical bonds between Gaelic Scotland and Ireland.
Charlie Grey and Joseph Peach make music on fiddle and piano. They are Scottish folk musicians, interested in making music filled with spontaneity, sensitivity and freedom. Inspiration comes from the past and their surroundings, feeding music that’s rooted in tradition, whilst stretching its possibilities through improvisation and imagination.
